“The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NLT)
From the very beginning of time, the whole human race has been inevitably running toward death and eternal separation from a holy God.
Since the act of disobedience by Adam and Eve, sin entered the world. From that moment on, only a few—those specially chosen and consecrated—could enter into the presence of the Most High and Holy God.
We, as humans, have been separated from our Creator.
It wasn’t God who separated Himself from us—it was us.
We chose sin and rebellion.
But because God’s love is greater than our sin,
He sent His only Son to die as a ransom for the sins of humanity.
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly...
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:6–8 (NIV)
Christ died and became the bridge between us—humans—and the Holy God.
There is no other bridge, no other way to God,
and therefore no other path to Heaven,
except through the sacrificial death of Jesus
on that old rugged cross.
“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one can come to the Father except through me.’”
— John 14:6 (NLT)
There is unprecedented power in the Cross.
It has become the eternal symbol of salvation, love, forgiveness, and hope.
Only through the Cross of Jesus shall the human race be saved.
Challenge for Today
Tell one person about what happened on the Cross—
why Jesus died, the magnitude of that sacrifice,
and what it truly means for us as humans and as individuals.
